Choir Singing Program, November 19
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the program. For a PTA meeting (just can’t say “PTSA”), the turn out of students and parents was the best ever. To the many parents who have been stepping forth to help the choir, thank you, so much. Choir success is always related to parent involvement. The students sang well and for the most part were well-behaved. It was a good night.

Changes
The good thing about the students not taking these newsletters home and nobody much reading them is things can be changed up a bunch and no one knows the difference. With that said, below are some changes.

5th and 6th Grade Choir Peabody Music Performance –
Wednesday, December 8
5th and 6th grade choir students will be out of school on this date, singing at the Parkview Retirement home near Overton Park and then heading for the Hotel Peabody to sing around the Christmas tree in the lobby. The performance will follow the Peabody Ducks. Duck time is 11:00 a.m. and choir performance time is right afterwards. After the performance the choir will eat at Pete ‘n Sam’s Restaurant – Park Avenue. Parents may attend as well. Lunch is $12 for parents and others who attend. There is no cost for students who have paid expenses. The cost for students who have not paid expenses is $20. For dress, see “Concert Attire” below.

7th and 8th Grade Choir City Singing Tour –
Thursday, December 10
7th and 8th grade choir will be off campus on this day, doing a city singing tour, performing at various retirement homes. Attire for the day is choir polo shirts, black pants, black socks, and black shoes. Students without a choir polo shirt may wear white polos and the rest of the appropriate dress. There is no cost for students who have paid expenses. The cost for students who have not paid expenses is $20. Parent chaperons are needed. Lunch is $12 for parents.

Winter Concert –
Monday Night, December 14, 7:00 p.m.

Concerts are always very short and have a promised “one hour guarantee”. Students must be in concert attire. Relative to grades, students can consider this in the context of a final exam.

Concert Attire
All students are expected to perform. Students with tux uniforms and formal dresses should wear these. Students who do not have the formal dress can wear their polo shirts and black pants and shoes. Students with neither of these may perform in white polos, black pants, and black shoes.

After-School Rehearsals
2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
7th & 8th Grades – Monday, December 7
5th & 6th Grades – Tuesday, December 8

Parents are needed to assist at the rehearsals. (Please send a note if available to assist.) Chips and water will be provided to students after school, but students might prefer to bring a snack of their own.

Spring Trip 2010 Deposits
Deposits will be accepted until the last day of the first semester. Please advise if planning on participating in the spring trip to Disney World.

Poinsettia and Loaf Cake Sale Fund Raisers
Delivery day for loaf cakes has been moved up to Monday, December 7. Poinsettias will be delivered on this day, as well. All orders may be picked up after 4:30 p.m. Parent coordinators are needed to help with organizing the fund raising orders for pickup.

Parent(s) Always Needed
The choir needs a parent or parents to come to school every day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. to assist in collecting money and organizing materials related to field trips, fund raisers, and things students must turn in. Perhaps a different parent could do this on different days of the week. Please send a note or call, if available to help.
Thanks.
